The fate of the ussr shows what happens when the working class is ideologically disarmed

Whilst studying the way in which the USSR collapsed I have come up with the following comparison which I hope will drive the point home to people who are unclear what happened. The collapse of the USSR happened because every single major organ of state power was systematically crippled by counter revolutionaries to the point where they became unable to defend even the integrity of the state. Enemies of the Soviet system were put in charge of propaganda, foreign agents were allowed free reign to operate across the country (especially after 1988) and every rebellion against the existing system was elevated by those who were supposed to be in charge of the party and the state.

If one were to compare it a British situation let us compare it to Britain in 1968-1975. If the most paranoid ravings of the Mi5 and Mi6 chiefs had been right and Harold Wilson really had been a KGB agent (if only) then the following might have occurred. The BBC was turned over to the control of Communist Part members and sympathisers and it ran round the clock propaganda about the failures of British capitalism broadcast into the homes of every Brit with a television or radio. The newspapers were given a new editorial line by the government to agitate permanently against capitalism and against the individuals within the ruling class (the British government actually does give out editorial lines to the press all the time by the way). Every strike was not only backed by the government but the industry the workers were part of was nationalised and the organs of repression had all officers hostile to the ongoing revolution systematically purged. At the same time this government suppressed the loyalists in the occupied six counties and handed control to the Irish Republican Socialists, renounced NATO, told all the US forces to leave the country and withdrew British forces from Cyprus, Kenya and other areas. By 1975 the British capitalist system would have wholly collapsed because all of its agencies had been compromised.

Sounds great that doesn’t it? But of course that would not happen because as soon as any of the above had even the remotest possibility of happening then the British ruling class would have (and did) act with total ruthless determination in defence of their class interests, destroying any potential threat to them. But this is what happened to the USSR, a clique seized power and actively made every single problem the USSR had worse in a relentless drive to destroy it. They crippled every single institution that could have stopped them and pushed the system to collapse. That’s what happens after years of the proletariat being disarmed by revisionism and we must never allow it to happen again. The bourgeois never allow themselves to be disarmed either ideologically or practically and neither must we.
